Yes, I have a Jack story, and mine is probably older than any of yours. Jack and I graduated from Northeast High in 1950. I didn’t see him again for 50 years, at our high school reunion in 2000. We spent some time with Jack and Ruth, really enjoyed knowing them, and looked forward to seeing them at reunions.

In 2020, my husband and I traveled from Oregon for our 70th reunion (Neal attended Northeast but moved away before graduation). Our reunions were no longer three-day events; now just an afternoon at a restaurant. By now, Jack had moved back to Humboldt and he had promised to be at our reunion. I was anxious to see him again, so when he didn’t show up, I phoned him at home. Where are you??? Jack said he figured none of us old folks would show up! I told him to get on his horse and get up here and he did it!  Drove the 80(?) miles from Humboldt to Lincoln. Saved my day!

He showed up in 2021 too, and he was able to share some memories with a couple of his high school track buddies.

Jack was one of my favorite people.

Thank you Shirley for taking the time to share your story. I am so glad you somehow learned of his passing as I saved your email about the reunion last year. But then somehow it disappeared.
